Water lilies have long been a familiar part of Vietnam's ponds, lakes, and wetlands. Their long stems, vivid flowers, floating leaves, and relationship with water make them particularly expressive photographic subjects. Combined with traditional boats and human figures, they provide a simple visual vocabulary that can be interpreted in many different ways through color, form, movement, scale, and reflection.
Creative Visual Storytelling
This is a curated visual storytelling experience rather than a documentary photography session. Local participants, boats, flowers, and movements are coordinated to create a variety of photographic situations while retaining the visual character of rural Vietnam.
Work with different arrangements of flowers and boats, individual and multiple human figures, movement across the water, reflections, gestures, and changing perspectives. Each setup provides a starting point rather than a prescribed photograph, giving you freedom to explore your own compositions and interpretation of the scene.
Aerial Photography
Water lilies become particularly graphic when viewed from above. Aerial photography reveals relationships between boats, people, flowers, open water, and negative space that are difficult to perceive from ground level, creating opportunities for abstract and geometric compositions.
A drone is therefore highly recommended for photographers who want to explore the full creative potential of the session, although it is not required. Strong images can also be created from ground level using reflections, environmental portraits, details, and longer focal lengths.
Photography & Video
The experience is suitable for still photography, aerial photography, video, travel and editorial assignments, and personal visual projects. Your photographer-guide can assist with composition, camera settings, working with natural light, coordinating the visual elements, and developing different perspectives throughout the session.
Mirrorless and DSLR cameras, compact cameras, smartphones, and drones can all be used. A standard zoom provides flexibility from ground level, while a telephoto lens can be useful for isolating people, flowers, reflections, and layers across the water. A tripod is not required.

Because this experience takes place on open water, photography arrangements may need to be adjusted when heavy rain, strong winds, or other conditions affect safety or the use of boats and drones. Your photographer-guide will adapt the session to the conditions available on the day.
