Itinerary

Day 1Hanoi - Cao Bang
We begin our journey leaving Hanoi behind, heading north toward Cao Bang’s striking landscapes. The route reveals a progression from lush delta plains to towering karst formations shrouded in mist, ideal for refined photographic exploration. Along the way, we observe vibrant rural life and serene countryside scenes, offering genuine insight into the region’s character. After settling into our accommodation, we convene for an orientation covering the week’s highlights, including Ban Gioc waterfalls and the Angel Eye mountain. The day concludes with a welcome dinner, setting the tone for our forthcoming discoveries and photographic pursuits.
Day 2Cao Bang
Along the border at Ban Gioc, our group captures the interplay of light and water as the sun rises over one of the world’s largest waterfalls. Guided by expert instruction, we explore techniques to balance dynamic skies with textured, moss-covered rocks. Later, we visit Phat Tich Pagoda, where architectural details and elevated views frame the Vietnam-China border. In the afternoon, the Phong Nam Valley offers tranquil riverbanks and towering karst formations. We conclude on a hilltop, photographing the setting sun as farmers and buffalo create serene silhouettes against the fading light.
Day 3Cao Bang
Our photography day starts among the dramatic limestone scenery of Ngoc Con, where the Quay Son River winds through quiet valleys, farmland, and towering karst formations. After the morning shoot, we continue through the countryside toward Mat Than Mountain, an extraordinary limestone peak distinguished by its vast natural arch. Depending on seasonal conditions, we may explore nearby Nam Tra Waterfall before moving to Co La Waterfall for the final session. Here, cascading water, rugged cliffs, and surrounding forest provide striking compositions as the afternoon light begins to fade.
Day 4Cao Bang - Ha Noi
We leave behind northern waterfalls and valleys, traveling south through ever-changing landscapes that offer rich photographic opportunities from our private vehicle. Along the way, we pause at scenic overlooks to capture expansive views of Vietnam’s countryside, where light and terrain shift continuously. By late afternoon, Hanoi welcomes us with its vibrant energy and historic charm. After settling into our hotel, the evening is free to explore Hoan Kiem Lake or unwind before dinner. Tonight’s meal presents refined Vietnamese cuisine, an ideal setting to reflect and prepare for the upcoming photographic journeys in Mu Cang Chai.
Day 5Hanoi - Phu Tho
Our day starts early in central Hanoi, with sunrise photography around Hoan Kiem Lake. As the city wakes, we capture reflections, architectural details, and panoramic views along the Red River. We then journey into the countryside of Phu Tho, arriving at Long Coc with time to prepare for the evening light. From elevated viewpoints, the vast tea plantations form a remarkable landscape of curves and overlapping hills, providing excellent compositions as warm afternoon light gradually gives way to sunset and twilight.
Day 6Phu Tho - Mu Cang Chai
The verdant Long Coc tea hills reveal their intricate dome-shaped contours as our group arrives, the morning light casting emerald and indigo hues. We capture expansive vistas and the mist-shrouded landscape reminiscent of Ha Long Bay on land. Following this, we navigate winding mountain roads toward Yen Bai and the renowned Mu Cang Chai district. By evening, in Tu Le, we photograph the valley bathed in golden hour light, highlighting water and terraces. Our day concludes at the Garrya Mu Cang Chai Resort, where refined comfort and mountain views prepare us for tomorrow’s photographic pursuits.
Day 7Mu Cang Chai
Our photography group moves deliberately through Mam Xoi hill, capturing the morning light as it reveals the textures and colors of ripening rice fields. Drone and telephoto lenses reveal intricate patterns carved by the Hmong community. We continue to La Pan Tan’s amphitheaters and the quiet ridges of Lao Chai, documenting the harvest and authentic hill tribe life. By late afternoon, we position ourselves at the Horse-shoe terrace, framing the sweeping panorama as the setting sun highlights the terraced paddies. The day concludes with a refined dinner at our 5-star resort, honoring the artistry of Vietnamese landscape photography.
Day 8Mu Cang Chai - Sa Pa
After photographing sunrise in Mu Cang Chai, we travel through the remote mountain scenery of northwestern Vietnam toward Sapa. The journey itself offers impressive views as we cross valleys and high passes beneath the Hoang Lien Son mountains. Later in the day, we photograph around Chu Va and O Quy Ho, focusing on layered peaks, sweeping valleys, and atmospheric clouds. As evening approaches, we position ourselves at a selected viewpoint for sunset, when warm light and shifting mist can transform the surrounding mountains into a dramatic landscape.
Day 9Sa Pa
An early departure takes us to a carefully selected viewpoint for sunrise over Sapa’s mountainous landscape. Low clouds and mist can reveal successive layers of ridges stretching toward the horizon, creating some of the region’s most atmospheric photographs. During the day, we visit Dragon Waterfall, where flowing water, rock formations, and dense vegetation provide a contrasting landscape subject. We keep the afternoon flexible, following the best available light and weather before settling at an elevated location for our final sunset photography session in the Hoang Lien Son mountains.
Day 10Sa Pa - Ha Noi
We make the most of our final morning in northern Vietnam with an optional sunrise shoot from one of Sapa’s mountain viewpoints. The location is chosen according to visibility and cloud conditions, giving us another chance to capture the dramatic highland landscape in early light. Following breakfast, we leave Sapa and travel southeast toward Hanoi, watching the scenery gradually change from steep mountains to the broad lowlands of the Red River. We continue directly to Noi Bai International Airport for departure and the conclusion of our photography tour.
