Red River Delta Vietnam Photo Tour
Journey through northern Vietnam on a seven-day photography adventure shaped by changing landscapes, traditional culture, and some of the region’s most distinctive light.
Beginning in Hanoi and the surrounding countryside, the route moves from colorful craft villages and centuries-old rural communities to the limestone islands of Ha Long Bay, the vast tidal coast of the Red River Delta, the dramatic karst country of Ninh Binh, and the rolling tea hills of Phu Tho.

Itinerary
Our journey begins in the countryside outside Hanoi, photographing a traditional incense village in the warm afternoon light. Colorful incense bundles, working artisans, repeating patterns, portraits, and details provide our first subjects before we return to Hanoi for a welcome dinner.
We begin along Hanoi's Ceramic Mosaic Road, working with color, graphic compositions, street life, and passing moments in the morning light. Later, we travel to Duong Lam to photograph ancient architecture, narrow lanes, traditional activities, environmental portraits, and everyday village life.
We travel to Ha Long Bay and board our overnight cruise among its limestone islands. Throughout the day, we photograph changing views from the water, explore Sung Sot Cave, and climb to the viewpoint on Titov Island for sweeping compositions across the bay in the late afternoon light.
We begin with the early light over Ha Long Bay, photographing layers of limestone karsts, boats, and changing atmosphere from the water. After leaving the bay, we travel south to the coast of Thai Binh for an evening session among tidal flats, reflections, and the distinctive wooden structures used by local fishing communities.
Before sunrise, we photograph the tidal flats of Quang Lang Beach, where shallow water can create remarkable reflections as local fishermen work across the open landscape. After the morning session, we travel to Ninh Binh and photograph Bich Dong Pagoda among limestone mountains, rural scenery, and seasonal lotus ponds.
Morning is dedicated to the limestone landscapes of Ninh Binh, where mountains, waterways, fields, boats, and rural life create a wide range of photographic opportunities. We then travel north to Long Coc, arriving in time to photograph its rolling tea hills, repeating patterns, and layered landscape in the late afternoon light.
Our final sunrise takes place above the tea hills of Long Coc, where morning mist can settle between the rounded plantations and tea farmers bring human scale to the landscape. Afterward, we spend time photographing local communities and everyday life in Phu Tho before returning to Hanoi, where the tour concludes.
